First look at the new BrewDog DogHouse Hotel in Edinburgh with in-room taps and shower beer fridges
Scottish beer giants BrewDog have just opened their first Scottish Doghouse Hotel in Edinburgh - and we've been given a first behind-the-scenes look.
With the hugely successful DogHouse Manchester receiving rave reviews, the Ellon-based brewing firm chose Edinburgh as the second site for their destination hotel for beer lovers.
Opening this week, the new 20-room venue is housed in a C-listed former Victorian school in the Old Town just a stone's throw away from Waverley Station.
The multi-level duplex-style rooms in the glamorous new lodgings feature everything from a complimentary guitar to an in-room draught beer tap and even a shower beer fridge.
The BrewDog team also hope the hotel will be 'carbon negative' with suites kitted out with sustainable furniture and cleaned using planet-friendly consumables.
Each guest will receive a refillable water bottle on arrival to help with BrewDog's carbon offsetting plans.
The hotel location can be found on New Street close to the Royal Mile, with guests offered a complimentary beer on arrival when they check into their room.
Other perks include free beer if you reuse your towels (to save on water and electricity), free Brompton bikes that can be taken out to explore the city, and extended breakfast times for that extra lie-in you might need after a night drinking the extensive range of craft beer on offer.
Music lovers can indulge in playing the guitar or they can enjoy the record-player in each room, with curated vinyl collections featuring top Scottish artists like Gerry Cinnamon, Biffy Clyro and Franz Ferdinand.
For guests who prefer to dine in the comfort of their rooms, there’s a room service menu available 7am-10pm, and for the hotel’s night owls, 24h hotdogs are available.
Open for bookings now, prices for the rooms start at £145, while those just looking to enjoy a meal or a pint or two are able to enjoy the hotel's two spacious bars (which are open to the public) and large outdoor terrace which features its own fire pits.
Keeping with BrewDog’s philosophy, the hotel is fully dog-friendly throughout, with complimentary in-room ‘pooch packages’ for all four-legged guests – including dog bed, water bowl, and dog treats.
Co-founder of BrewDog, James Watt, stated that they are excited to bring a BrewDog DogHouse Hotel to one of the "most passionate beer cities in the UK".
He said: "Edinburgh has always been close to our hearts, and ten years ago when we opened our first bar there, we knew it was going to be the start of something special.
“Every part of our new, carbon-negative, DogHouse is there to give you the warmest of welcomes. We are proud to give people a reason to explore once again, although with a beer tap in every room and a beer fridge in every shower, you might not want to leave!”
