Ensuring streak-free mirrors in the home is one of the biggest bugbears for many clean freaks, leaving the internet divided as how to best tackle it.
The situation came to a head in recent days on fan pages dedicated to cleaning hack goddess Mrs Hinch, with fellow clean geeks coming to the aid of one person stuck on how to tackle the problem.
However, there was no clear winning method to help keep mirrors free of streaks.

Posting several pictures of their streaky mirrors onto the Facebook group Mrs Hinch cleaning tips and hacks, the initial poster said: “Having a nightmare keeping these mirrors clean! Anyone know how to keep them clean and STREAK FREE???”
They were met with hundreds of responses.
Some were simple, with one user replying: “I just use hot soapy water and kitchen towel.”
“Damp glass cloth,” added another.
Others used a combination of methods, likening the process to a science experiment.
“Water and white vinegar mixed together in a spray bottle, spray and wipe off with a cloth….I use an E Cloth,” said one person.
“I use water with white vinegar in a chamois leather and a squeegee,” added another.
Some had hacks that their friends swore by.
“One of my friends swears by glass cleaner and newspaper,” said one person.
“Newspaper is great. My mother still uses it,” said another. “Game changer, it’s just we are in more of a digital age now so they can be harder to have in [your] cupboard!”
The one tip that was seen across hundreds of messages was the use of microfibre cloths. Seen as a cheap and effective way to remove the streaks, Mrs Hinch fans were divided on what should be used before the cloth touched the mirror, but were mainly supportive of the cloth itself.
Some use hot, soapy water, others use Fairy Liquid or other cleaning aids.
For those willing to spend a bit more, many cleaning hack fans endorsed the use of steam cleaners and, finally, the most cost-effective tip to get rid of the streaks?
“Elbow grease,” was one person’s simple reply.
