Agile offroader for young families
NextGen’s 5.36m Greyline double bunk caravan suits young families who want to go off-road and, with a big 828kg payload, can take just about anything they want.
Its meranti timber frame has braced spider web framing to support the aluminium composite-clad bodywork.
All that sits on a box-section permagal chassis that comes with 100mmx50mm main rails with 50mmx50mm risers and 150mmx50mm drawbar rails.
NextGen has fitted Alko Enduro Outback 3.5T independent Coil Suspension with coil springs, trailing arms and two shock absorbers per wheel.
The 16-inch wheels have 12-inch electric brakes and are shod with 16-inch 245/75 all-terrain tyres.
Though it is relatively short underneath it still has two 95-litre freshwater tanks and a 95-litre greywater tank with galvanised sheet protection.
The frame includes extra bracing on the raised checker plate front, rear, sides and both wheel arches plus a full under-body checker plate sheeting.
The drawbar has a Vehicle Components Hitchmaster DO35 coupling, centre-mounted jockey wheel and handbrake.
Behind the mesh stone shield are the two 9kg gas cylinders and a checkerplate box with a slide-out for a generator.
Two jerry can holders and a spare wheel are fitted to the rear bumper bar.
There is also a three-quarter tunnel boot at the front of the van.
Inside, the Greyline has a front double bed, double bunks, dinette, kitchen, and bathroom cubicle.
Bedroom storage can be found in overhead lockers and a wardrobe.
At the rear is a combo shower-toilet cubicle with a flexible hose shower, a small corner washbasin and a rear wall Thetford cassette toilet.
The kitchen also on the rear wall has three gas burners, one electric cooker, microwave, stainless-steel sink and drainer.
The bench is well lit by two LED strip lights fitted under the overhead lockers and there are double powerpoints at either end of the bench.
Between the door and dinette is a Dometic 12-volt 190-litre compressor fridge.
The cabinetry work is generally square-edged, but is nicely offset by some end partitioning and the glossy finish of the cupboards. All the cabinetry work is CNC machine cut and it fits neatly.
The fully integrated battery with solar-management system includes two 105amp deep-cycle batteries and a 170-watt solar panel.
On the roof is a Houghton Belaire HB3400 reverse-cycle air-conditioner.
The Greyline is well suited to the family who wants a bit of comfort in a shorter van with plenty of storage to handle bush tracks and tight corners.
