Say Goodbye to Smelly Trash with This Hack
We’ve all been there. It doesn’t matter how hard you try, your trash still smells like, well, trash. Thankfully, there’s a hack for that.
TikTok content creator @the_spin_cycle illustrates how you can use a toilet bowl gel (yeah, not the product we thought would work, either) to freshen your trash can.
In the short video, she uses the Lysol Click Gel Automatic Toilet Bowl Cleaner. After unwrapping one of the gels, she uses the applicator and applies it to the interior of her trash can. Then, she simply adds her trash bag, and she’s got a fresh-smelling trash can that she won’t even dread taking out.

♬ Do It To It - ACRAZEWhile this trick is certainly likely to work for some, those who don’t prefer the smell of a floral-scented cleaning product might not go for it. However, it’s not the only hack of its kind. Back in November, content creator @rootedbymartine went viral for a much more customizable method.

Instead of the Lysol Click Gels, she took felt pads with adhesive backs—like the ones you place under furniture—and soaked them in essential oil before placing them in areas like cabinets and pantries. It would definitely work for your trash can as well.
Look for a weekend project? Before adding these scent boosters, you might want to clean and deodorize your trash cans first.
